this may be the answer your looking for then http://www.3vcash.com/
i've just applied for this seems good

About the 3v card:
The 3V Card is NOT a credit card or a debit card. It holds no personal
information. It has no balance or limit or any other associated
financial
information.

About the 3V Voucher:

Each time you buy a 3V Voucher, you are buying a unique and disposable
VISA
number. Afterwards, you will receive the expiry date and 3-digit CVV2
code.

You cannot merge the funds available on different Vouchers because each
3V
Voucher has a different VISA number.

The maximum value of a Voucher is GBP 200.

You can make as many purchases as you want with a single 3V Voucher, as
long as
you do not exceed the available balance on the Voucher. However, you
cannot use
more than one VISA number when you make a purchase online.

You cannot use a 3V Voucher in situations where you are expected to
present a
plastic VISA card, such as hotel check-in, car rental agencies and
cinemas. You
can use 3V Vouchers to book hotel accommodation online if the hotel
does not
expect you to present a credit card when you check in.

3V Vouchers cannot be used on gambling sites.

hope this is in the right place and hope it helps someone
save money, spend someone else's

  • Also I'd say the Virgin freepay mastercard is better as you keep the same number and use it like a normal credit card.

Until the end of October £20 vouchers are fee-free, making it as close to free as a pre-paid card will get. Unlike other pre-paid cards there is no fee to buy the card in the first place or fees for each purchase made, just the £3.50 it will eventually cost to buy vouchers each time.

I only applied for my card on Sunday so I don't know how well it works but it is certainly worthwhile for me to use it for the next couple of months while I plan my next course of action.

I can see how keeping the same number would be of use to people using the card over long periods of time and for regular purchases, but the vouchers just might work for people who aren't sure how often they'll need to make purchases and don't want to pay monthly fees or to buy a card they wont use.

Swings and roundabouts, though. I think the idea of having the card number printed out on each voucher and the expiry date and security code sent to you by text. If someone was to half-inch the voucher or the card itself it would be useless to them.

But it might turn out to be crap. I'm keen to stress that I'm not recommending the 3v vouchers as I haven't had a chance to use them.

Ordered late Sunday night and with me already. So far so good considering the bank holiday.

I topped it up, spent most of the money on the voucher without hassle and due to the excellent service of the company I ordered from, had my goods a short while later.

A few observations. I don't know if it is a Plymouth thing, but Payzone terminals are few and far between. The place listed on their website had a massive pink Payzone sign but no terminal and they were quite rude when telling me they had switched to paypoint.

Probably not a good idea to use the vouchers for verification purposes. Experian claim not to have taken the 86p they used to verify the card number I gave them and I assume Equifax didn't take £1 and eBay didn't charge me £1 to change the email address on my account despite assuring me it would be free to do so.

I'm waiting to hear back from 3v about a refund of the £2.86 that hasn't been taken from the voucher by the companies in question yet has been removed from the balance by 3v. Hopefully they will be able to sort it promptly.

EDIT: They replied to the email within 36 hours and the money was back on the card shortly afterwards, although I don't know how long it took as I have been away for a couple of days. I'll be buying more vouchers while they are £20 and not £23.50.

Was bought a 3V card as birthday present. A clever alternative to cash in the birthday card I thought. I had money left on this card and looked it up 9months later to find they were charging money every month for no reason except to have the card! shocking and ridiculous. £2 each month on a £20 gift card! I wasted a poor friends money by not reading the small print (on the website not even on the card!).
