Ah but you have her and she more than makes up for it doesn't she? To hell with her dad he is one in name only anyway. Good on you for staying strong and looking after her on your own . A bit early but........Have a lovely Xmas together .
My sentiments exactly regarding her "dad",
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

We like others have gone overboard in past years just so it "looks" like they have lots of pressies.
Many have hardly been played with or used and now they are older I have set a limit to £150 each.
My son is really into guitars at the minute and he asked if he could put his Xmas money towards a new guitar he had his eye on (£300) We agreed as there is nothing else he really wants and to his due...he has paid off the rest of the balance hisself.
Really feel that we should get him a couple of things to open but what do you get teenage lads?
Daughter is thinking about a Wii (if we can lay our hands on one of course) and again I said she can have £150 towards it and pay the rest out of her savings.
May seem mean but I believe if they have contributed, they appreciate things more, and it makes them really think about what they would like.
No its not mean I totally agree with you, thisway they appriciate it more, and a budget is a budget.
My daughter wanted a TV for her room, shes paid for it out of previuos exmas/bday money, she choose a posh one, but she appriciates it asshe paid for it, shes only 5xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I spend £50 on main presents and about £15 on stocking for my two - they're 3 and 1, although eldest is 4 10 days before xmas.
we make a big deal about going to see a special santa and having a meal out.
last year she got so much from kind relatives but have asked them not too this year as it was far too much and she didn't play with any of it0 -
Ive 3 kids ageing from 6 to 20 ,I usually spend approx £150-175 0n them ,but this year Im cutting it right down to £100 each ,partly because of lack of funds but mainly because the more they get ,it just ovewhelms them , its been quite interesting finding bargains /unexpensive novelties .
Im very lucky because all 3 of them never ask for really expensive things and theyre always over the moon with whatever they recieve.
In our family we have a glut of birthdays in dec /jan ,including daughters 21st so its an expensive time of year.0 -

He said it would help as I've got to pay out on the house insurance this month. The little bit of pocket money he does get (just loose change I have from day to day split between them), he asked if he could buy some flowers for me.
sounds like a lovely lad.0 -

i always go ott a xmas, cant really help it as the things my ds (aged 5) tends to really really want are expensive - Transformers Bumblebee toy = 79.99 and Star Wars Lego (spaceship of some sort!) is 69.99 .... thats just 2 toys! He will get much much more but luckily i save up most of the year and make extra cash through ebay etc so that we dont go in to debt just for this time of year, my dd is only 9 months so her "want" list is smaller!
But ultimately xmas is about family, friends and creating long lasting memories regardless of the amount of money spent!
Merry xmas xxx0 -
I was shocked at how much people consciously spend on christmas.
I went shopping today Sue Ryder charity shop board game, electronic board game and a pewter chess set all for £3. I hate waste... I come over ill, if I find I've wasted money.. oh and I also bought three watches for my friends £2.49 each mind It was the Xcatalogue shop, brilliant the same watch is £30 in a store called westgate dept.
I have a very good memory regarding money and can remember every price of every item I have looked at, which my friends hate as I say its cheeper at so and so's.

Last year I realised that the cost of the items in their stockings was almost as much as their main present. Ridiculous! When they were smaller (now 20 and 22) we got them far too much so now they'll get about £100 each. Birthdays they get less but I don't believe in just getting them things at Christmas...they're my kids and i love them so if i see something i think they'll like then i get it and they'll get it when I get home. I often pick up pj's or undies for them in the sales...it's nice to have treats occasionally.0
