in Credit cards
I took out a three month subscription to a dating site ( e-Harmony)
They have an automatic renewal facility which I must have signed up for without giving it much thought. I was thinking I would not renew but they have now taken the money from my account £113.85
Never mind I thought I can still get my money back as I have a 14 day period to change my mind. Not so I'm afraid. They say I'm not entitled to a refund as the 14 days only applies to the initial signing on fee.
My questions are, do I have any consumer rights in this matter and is the fact that I paid by credit card any help to me in getting something back.

No, they are correct, the cooling off period is for new contracts, yours is an existing contract.
You can call them and speak to some one to see if there is anything they can do or at the very least get it cancelled so it doesn't happen again.0 -
OP change the title of the thread - it is very misleading!0

Thank you Bris. I have cancelled the automatic renewal and spoken to e Harmony but while their business is 'love' their business philosophy is of course making money, and no way will they relent on this. The whole operation is a bit sharp in my opinion but never mind perhaps I will meet a soulmate during my extended membership.0
