Hi all,

Not sure what to expect but being getting a wild array of quotes for a specific job and I have no idea what's fair or not as some seem extortionate quote wise?
Looking to rip out the current kitchen which is around 2 meter by 1.5 meter.
  • Take down 2 partition walls surrounding the kitchen to make it open plan
  • Then install the new kitchen which consists of 14 units and 9 appliances. All electric based integrated appliances (4meter x 1.5 meter kitchen).
  • New kitchen tiles will need to be laid out (roughly 10square meters).
  • Spot lights to be installed (roughly 8) (keeping in mind this is an apartment so will need holes to be filled afterwards as no access to above floor)
  • New paint for the open plan kitchen/living room to be done plus re-plastering where necessary.

It is a fair bit to do to be fair.

Keeping in mind the cabinets etc are already pre built as ordered from wren which is not flat packed units.

Got quotes ranging from £4k - £7k?

Just want some better idea from the public or people in the trade whether some of the quotes I'm being ripped off or fair?

The quotes will vary for a number of reasons. Do any of them have VAT on them? That will have an impact.

Wren are not well regarded in the trade. Their logistics ate awful and after sales service non existent. Some of the people quoting may well have 'out-priced' the job as tjey do not wish to have the hassle of a Wren kitchen installation.

Howeber, you shouldn't be focussing on price. You need to focus on other things which will be more apparent when the job is complete. Such as:

    - Are any guarantees offered?
    - Will electrical certificates be provided!
    - Can the fitters show you other work they have done or offer references?
    - Is liability insurance held
-NWhat is the lead in time (good fitters are booked up for a long time ahead. If they can start next week, this maybe for a (wrong) reason).

Focus on these and you will soon wittle your choices down.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • Thank you for letting me know the things that I do need to think about. Although I still need to work within a budget. As my funds are quite limited. Even though I'm not expecting to get the job done for measly pay. I still need to try keep costs low where I can.
