Just a bit confused by the method for picking the winner for this comp:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5357563
T&Cs:
"The most accurate guess will win and if there are multiples of the same guess, a winner will be chosen randomly. The winner will be contacted direct on the email address provided. If the winner does not respond within 7 days a new winner will be drawn."
Winning entry:
"Helen won guessing 289. The value was £289.60."
Several people guessed £289, so as per T&Cs a winner would be picked at random from them.
Thing is, looking through the comments there are lots of guesses that are closer than that, including £289.47, £289.50 (2 people), £289.70, £289.89, £289.15, £289.06, £289.74, £289.94, £289.34 and lots of people who put £289.95 (presumably because it's the RRP).
So shouldn't the winner have been picked at random from the 2 people that guessed £289.50 and the person who guessed £289.70?
Or......am I missing something? In which case I apologise!

Depends if they were using accuracy of pence or of pounds, I suppose. Does it say in the T&Cs?Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!0

I just had a look and there's nothing about nearest pound.
Also, looking at the rafflecopter there was only 1 method of entry, so 1 go per user - there are 669 comments but 1984 entries in the widget - it doesn't say it's a shared comp so that's confusing as well.TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
(most) Bloggers are a law unto themselves, hence I don't generally enter them.0

No harm in asking the blogger how the winner was chosen?:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

It is a competition and surely the Company offering it has every right to determine the winner as they deem fit.0

They do to the extent that their terms and conditions* must set out how they will select a winner and that is the procedure they must then follow.
*terms and conditions also have CAP/ASA guidelines to follow so they are not a totally "free" choice either.0 -
The line "Helen won guessing 289. The value was £289.60" has now been removed from the blog (it was written under the RC widget).......0

In my opinion, Vicki, the blogger of Honest Mum, is really lovely and I don't think she would have been dis-honest in choosing the winner.:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0
