Identify Diplomat Electric Oven

Can someone help here. My oven has stopped working, ie no heat coming through, I've found various websites offering spare parts, the only problem is I don't have the model number for the cooker. (it was already supplied in the house I moved into and no instructions/parts were left.)

I basically need to identify the cooker before buying a part, but I can't find any official websites for Diplomat cookers/appliances. The only ones I can find are parts suppliers but without knowing the model number i don't know which to buy.

I've just checked the oven and the part model number is on the inside of the door.:idea::idea:

I now need to know whats wrong with it.

The oven won't heat up, regardless of what heat setting it's on. However if I turn the grill on for a while then try the oven it works.

Don't know why, but I can't use it like this all the time. Does any one have advise on troubleshooting the problem, or could it simply be thermostat or somethign.

Good morning: Try this site http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/index.php You could post a query on the forum...make sure you include the model number from the data plate. ..site also has troubleshooting sections...an excellent resource!

Diplomat appliances are the 'budget' range supplied by MFI are they not? You could try them if the other options fail.

The model number will either be around the edge of the door or the oven cavity or on top of the oven itself.

Diplomat is the range above the basic Hygena range of appliances from MFI and there is another below that again. Generally the Diplomat stuff is a bit better than the cheaper gear.

There is now also a new range from Howdens which, for the most part, appears to be rubbish.

I have always found ebay to be a good source of cooker parts.

Edit: Just done a search on ebay and there are loads of ebay shops selling parts for diplomat ovens. Also, there are a lot of secondhand diplomat ovens going cheap-if a suitable one is local to you it may be worth buying and scavenging for spares.

Cheers, managed to identify the oven from the sticker inside of the door. Bought a heating element from ebay for 15 quid. Champion.

Be very careful about some of the spares available on Ebay and some online store as all is not what it sometimes seems to be. We've been battling this within the industry for decades.

I wrote a bit about it in this article if you're interested.
