Broken sliding door Mirror

Well doing the hoovering a few nights ago I accidentally clipped one of our sliding mirror doors in the bedroom cracking in. I feel pretty confident me and my partner can replace it but I have no idea where you would buy something like this, does anyone know where I could get a replacement?

Probably any DIY shed, builders merchant, and lots of online sites. Just google for Sliding Mirrored Wardrobe Doors and you'll find any number of suppliers. Hope this helps.

The Homebase ones are sold either as the DIY, order in store type and were once Stanley brand, but now they are delivered from a glass company in Birmingham. Also they have more expensive, Schreiber fitted ones in their furniture section.

The B&Q ones were either 'value' or Stanley, not sure who make them now, but the screwfix ones will probably be the same and cheaper.

You may find different frame surrounding the glass, so look carefully, to see if there is a label and brand first. Also different running gear, but possibly no need to change track.

You may end up making an insurance claim, if you cant get just one door.

  • I made sliding mirror doors for our fitted wardrobes, just went to a local glass and glazing firm with the dimensions of the mirrors I needed - height, width and glass thickness - and they cut the mirrors for me. Take the door down, remove the backing sheet so you can get at the glass, measure it then call a few local glass companies for a price.
Because I used 6mm ply behind the glass I was able to use 4mm mirror glass rather than 6mm, lots cheaper.
Be gentle with the frame - the reason I made ours was that all the pre-made ones I could find were veneered chipboard or similar, I could not find solid wood frames - so I bought 18mm furniture grade pine and made them myself!

Look up glazing suppliers in your locality.....
Any decent glazing supplier will be able to make you a new mirror to size.

Go to a glazier. That's what they do.Make things from glass.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
