Style card ppi claim

My mother had a style financial services card for a number of years. It had a fairly significant balance at one stage and fir the last 5 years or so of the account being open she did not add any new purchases, simply reduced the balance before evtually closing it. She did have PPI on the card, which she queried whilst the card was active and was told it was conditional to having the card.
She would now like to make a claim however without any statements or card number I suspect she has absolutely no chance. In addition I believe Style are no longer in existence which would make it impossible to instigate a claim.
Am I correct is there any hope of her raising a claim under the circumstances?
Thanks

Style Financial Services Ltd ran a number of store cards for companies such as HMV, Kwik Fit etc.
They still exist;
STYLE FINANCIAL SERVICES LIMITED
24/25 ST ANDREW SQUARE
EDINBURGH
EH2 1AF
Company No. SC074080
It appears to be a subsididary of RBS.0 -
Thanks for that. She had asked at her local RBS as she re recalled it being an RBS company and was told it had ceased to exist some years ago. It was indeed a store card , she is trying to remember which store from as this would at least narrow it down.0

Does she have in writing that the PPI was mandatory for the card? Your complaint may need to be backed up by paperwork proving it.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I wouldn't think so. My guidance has been that she doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell however she has been at pains to point out I'm not always correct so I will happily help her to make a claim and see what happens.
Sometimes with my mother it's in my best interests to bite my lip, keep my opinions to myself and just go with the flow - this could be one of these times!0 -

If that is her only point of miss-sale it's relying on getting lucky with another failing, verbal allegations don't stand up to testing
If Style themselves can't help (you would need to complain to the store in the first instance as they sold it) then try her credit record, it can be seen free at noddle.co.uk or get the free trial from Equifax / Experian as they should have it on there if it was active in the last 6 years and you can see account details.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

Thank you. That's helpful. I think the store may no longer be in business - in fact I think the card may have been taken out back in the 90's which, as I understand, would invalidate any type of claim. She isn't at all sure so perhaps the credit record would be a good starting point as she made the last repayment sometime within the last 6 years.0
