Chased for money but paid cash

Hopefully I have posted this in the right section.

I used to run a limited company and had accounts with various suppliers. I got fed up with doing it (long story) so I went round and returned any bits we did not need, paid off all the accounts, and got another job. The company technically still exists until the company end of year (February) although it has no money coming in or out.

Around the same time I sold my car as I now have a company car, and used the cash for paying for things here and there.

Since this, I've wanted to buy a few bits and pieces personally and for friends, and as my account is still open with zero balance, I put it through the account to get my trade discount but paid cash at the time of buying.

I haven't particularly bothered keeping the receipts as they are paid for and are nothing to do with the company so won't be claiming back VAT or putting on the accounts.

However I got a phone call from the supplier today to say that my account hasn't been paid, and it turns out there is £800 of goods that I've paid cash for which has been put on my account

I am trying to find the receipts and hopefully they have been signed to say I paid cash, but haven't had much luck so far. I can't show a bank statement as proof as I just paid in cash from my 'under the mattress' fund from my old car.

I suspect that whoever took my money at the till forgot to tick off that I had paid at the time of collection, or worse, kept the money for themselves!

Is there any way I can prove I paid at the time?

My alternative is to wind the company up but I would rather resolve it amicably and prove that I have paid for the goods.
