I have a big house and all I seem to do is move piles of crap from one room to another! thought it would be easier with more storage etc but no I seem to just fill it with more stuff!Only two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. Will a new pair of shoes really help?
Weight at lightbulb moment 13 7lb
goal for Christmas 12 7lb! :rotfl:0 -
I once told ex-MIL that 'a spotless house was a sign of a wasted life', she was distinctly unimpressed by this comment (job done then!).
I do the bare minimum, but I guess it helps living on a boat as I really can't go overboard with possessions (forgive the pun!).
I iron maybe 2 or 3 times a year.
I keep the kitchen clean and tidy, and the rest of the boat cleanish and tidyish0 -
Having read Dolly's post about her PGCE year - I can relate to that! I can remember the feeling of total tiredness soooooo well with trying to run a home, organise husband and 3 children and still do everything for college. The first term, Christmas fell just a very few days after the end of my term at college and I had just a couple of days to Organise Christmas. I did it but by the time we got to Christmas dinner, I had just had enough. We ate the turkey etc course and my husband went out to the kitchen to fetch the pudding. When he came back to the table, I had keeled over asleep with my head on my plate - just like a toddler.0

In this house, Waynetta flings all items requiring a handwash into the shower the minute she takes them off. They stay on the shower floor until Waynetta next decides to take a shower. (Wayne never showers, so no worries there):o
As she soaps her lovely slobby boddy with "Essence of Waynetta" showergel, she stamps around on her washing. As she rinses her lovely slobbily wobbily boddily, she is rinsing her hand washing without any extra effort on her part. The only extra effort required is when - just before she steps out of the shower - she picks up the smalls, etc., and slings them over the showerhead to drip dry. Later, she may have to get a hanger for jumpers or shirts, and hang them to drip dry in the shower. When she gets back from a hard day's slobbing around - clothes are all clean, dry and gently fragranced with her favourite perfume. All Art is the transfiguration of the commonplace

Life is too short to stuff a mushroom - to quote Shirley Conran. I have a full-time job and want to get on with my life outside work, rather than doing housework. So I have worked out a timetable for doing as little as poss. but still having a reasonable house.
DAILY
- Dry dishes whilst making breakfast
- Do packed lunch (workdays)
- Check out any kefir/beansprouts I am doing
- Water plants
- Chuck cleaner down loo (Monday mornings)
- In evening just wash dishes after dinner and check out beansprouts/kefir again.
SATURDAY (Week 1)
- make bread
- tidy
- handwash
SUNDAY (Week 1)
- change bed, etc
- hoover downstairs and main area
- clean kitchen
SATURDAY (Week 2)
- make bread
- tidy
- handwash
SUNDAY (Week 2)
- change bed, etc
- hoover throughout
- clean bathroom
Machinewashing - whenever there is a load (2/3 times a week)
Ironing - When there is a pile of it (I don't iron bedding/towels/teatowels/knickers). If pushed for time - I dont iron petticoats and nightdresses either.
Springcleaning and the yearly clearout of files - on Bank Holidays.

hi Daisy
Well - welcome on board and waves back. But... no - I wont be the ceridwen you know - I just picked a nice name for my alias - (for those who were wondering - but havent googled for it - its a name for a Welsh shapeshifter goddess). Nice though - I like romantic names.
Well - perhaps I might make to a goddess of the hearth - not! with my great liking (sic!!!) for housework.
(Crikey - I picked my name before googling for it in first place. I've just re-googled and found other stuff - like ceridwen being latin for compassion and how she is Welsh goddess of wisdom. Blimey - well that sure gives me something to aspire to as a target! - Nothing like going for easy stuff then. Think I should maybe pick an easier target - like climbing Mount Everest in my lunchhour). But I love the name - so I'll stick with it.0 -
