Further insurance payments after insured item successfully claimed.

Suppose you have insurance on a mobile phone.

The mobile phone is destroyed or stolen, and a successful claim registered, with a replacement phone.

But the policy is for the old IMEI/phone , and direct debits continue to be taken.

Is this legal? As it is now insurance for a phone which is no longer in existence. I wasn't able to claim this back and hadn't noticed they hadn't cancelled the direct debits and refuse to refund them.

You should remember that most insurances are yearly policies that you pay for by a monthly credit agreement. Because the phone no longer exists doesn't end your commitment to annual policy.
