New Job Holiday

Every place I've worked at has not worked on this system. But then I've always worked in public jobs, NHS, university, schools, and even TfL where all leave is allocated. They still allow newcomers to take leave that's already booked before it's accrued. It'd be strange for any company to pay someone days off they haven't accrued? Not down to silly rules I'm afraid...
Not saying that it should be like that, just saying that it's not at all strange. Also many leave years work from April and not January.0 -

I get that...next year they may be able to book all their days in the first 6 months...that isn't the point.
Judging from what was said in the post it sounds as though the period is from Jan to Dec...they can only accrue 4 days in this period, the employer has stated that they can take those days regardless of whether they have been accrued or not...they aren't going to get next years allowance up front and the rest just has to go unpaid...0 -
Perhaps it would have been a far better idea if the OP had not only stated that not only was a holiday booked but asked if they would be paid for the whole time off at the interview instead of thinking that they were going to be paid.0

Did you ask them whether it would be paid? Employers are not mind readers.Been here a month, taking 10 days off which they knew about in interview but refusing to pay. As I haven't acculmated enough days.
It was never said I wouldn't be paid, where do I stand?
If they are not paying them it does mean you are accuring holiday to use at a later date.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0
