HOTELS.COM - refund help

You want a refund - you need to contact the people who have overcharged you.
If you want to pursue Hotels.com for poor customer service then do that separately, if you want a refund then contact the hotel.0 -
I don't know why you're messing about, just get your card issuer to refund the duplicate charge, it won't cost them, they'll get it back from the hotel.0

When we returned home and checked bank statements, there had been a payment to the holiday park taken from both accounts, one which we were expecting as we authorised it at the property via chip and pin and another (including a foreign transaction fee) from the Santander credit card that we used to make the booking with - therefore Hotels.com had passed on these details for the property to charge us (we were charged on this card 10 days after booking and the day before our stay).
It does sound like the hotel were in error for taking the second charge when it had been paid in full so there was no balance to pay
Have you spoken to the hotel at any point...they will be able to see straight off that you paid 200% to them so should be simple to reverse one payment
Hotels.com do not have your money to refund you, they would simply be chasing the hotel who have had the money twice...much simpler to do it yourself0 -
Contact your card company and ask for a chargeback.0

Yes: chargeback is different from Section 75 protection, and applies even when the cost was less than 100 pounds, and to debit cards as well as credit cards. In this case the issue is not about the quality of the goods and services, but simply that a payment was taken that should not have been taken. The card company can thus reverse the payment for you.0
