Any idea what could be wrong with the car?

Nooooooo...don't go to Kwik-Fit. They'll tell you that your brakes worn both front and back, they'll tell you that your exhaust has a hole in it (which will necessitate replacing the whole system) and they'll then fill your tyres with nitrogen and charge you for it.
Ask anyone who you know who has a car, for a recommendation for a local garage. And get a quote from them.
And please, please, do let us know what the Kwik-Fit quote is tomorrow!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
I can tell you now, it's extortionate.barbiedoll wrote: »

Please don't let Kwik-Fit near it. They will rip you off. Whatever they quote, I am willing to bet a local garage can do it for half the price.0

You're wrong, they will fill it with air and charge for filling with nitrogen. Watchdog did a story on it.0 -
Got my car MoTd at a Kwik fit a couple years back for £20. Failed on the antiroll bar drop link dust covers being ripped and no longer preventing the ingress of dirt etc. They wanted £93 a side.
Cost me £30 for the pair and an hour to fit them. Went back a couple of days later for a half price retest and it passed still didnt cost as much as a full price MoT though.0 -
Nobody does this nowadays... and certainly not on a 600quid carbig_mortgage wrote: »Yes, if it is from the wheel area, I will go for a Spring too. You might even be able to spot it yourself, depending on how bad it is. You will need to get them replaced in pairs though.0 -
Why didn't you get your mobile mechanic to do the job??0

My first guess was a snapped spring, get it looked at ASAP, because a broken spring can dig into the the tyre and cause a blow out.
NVM, I didn't read the last few posts, but regardless it's worth keeping this here to warn others in the same sort of situation.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Happened to me on the Mondeo. One front spring went and took a huge chunk out of the tyre when it did so. I had both replaced, on the basis that if one had gone (no impact, just reversing on my driveway) the other might be close behind. I was glad I did, as the front of the car now rides about an inch higher than before, so just one spring would have made it lopsided. Total cost for both sides at a trusted local garage, about £120.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0
