Car written off

Car has been written off after an accident. The insurance company made offer far less that the value of the car. I rejected and they said that a second engineer will inspect. However they will process the payment for the first offer even though I rejected it.
Are they trying to force me to accept? If they pay now will I still be able to raise a claim with the ombudsman?

Copy the cheque and send the original one back with a note explaining why their offer is a joke. Keep the copy just in case.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

No harm at all banking the cheque they send on the understanding it is accepted purely as an interim payment. This does not compromise your position.0

I'd disagree. I've read before that by cashing that cheque, you'd be accepting the settlement0 -
OP is the payment less than market value or what you think the car is worth ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

What did you give as the estimated value when you took your policy?
(there was a post recently where someone bought a car for around £4k but gave the value as £2k because they got a cheaper quote then, when the car was written off, could not understand why they would not give more than £2k)
Have you looked at Parkers Guide etc?0 -
