This annoying behaviour is caused by the fact that IE is still your default browser. In order to make Firefox your default browser you need to do the following:
- Open Firefox
- Go to the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options'
- Under the 'Main' section you should see an option which says "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup"... ignore the check box next to this and instead click the 'Check Now' button.
- Firefox will tell you that it is not your default browser and ask you whether you would like to use it as such, click 'Yes'.
