my monthly direct debits have been changed to Gas £41 and Elec £27 per month, does this seem a little high to you? I have a mid terrace 2 bed house and share it with a friend, i often shower at work and was wondering if these costs seem a little high?

How do they compare to yours?

It's hard to compare monthly direct debits as they are usually based on what the energy companies think you will use and will be higher if you have underpaid in the past and owe them money. Estimated meter readings can also be miles out and affect the amounts they decide to charge.

If you can post your actual meter readings with dates and a bit about your lifestyle and property we can work out your consumption and comare it with others.

For example, are you out all day at work or in? What sort of heating system do you have? Do you use a washing machine and/or tumble drier a lot? Is your home a modern well insulated one or an older one with lots of draughts?

    Hiya
I was paying £15 dd for my electric and £10 for my gas each month for about a year so I guess I was underpaying and the debt has slowly built up? I'll pop my readings up in a day or 2 if thats ok as im away from home at present.
I work shifts so am at home half the week, have a condensing combi boiler feeding 4 radiators and prob use the washing m/c 4 times a week, no tumble drier. house was built in 60's I think (all brick walls) but there is a flat under me so I guess i get a little heat from below in the winter?
