Credit Rating super poor! not sure why!

Options
I have a CCJ from 4 years ago, but other than that everything is green. I have a few missed or late payments but i always sort them out within days, and one on going dispute with O2 on my account.

It was going up but since all things have halted with the O2 payments whilst they investigate it my credit rating is going down, I took out a garuntaur loan for a small amount to help boost it fast but no improvements as of yet, I have a phone contract in my name but i cannot get credit for anything else.

I cant even get an adult or non basic bank account even though i have been with them for 12 years, no overdraft or anything. Seems they are only willing to lend money to people who dont need it?

not that i need to borrow but i feel like im getting nowhere?
Advice please! :(

  • A CCJ, missed payments and guarantor loan will put most lenders off.

Set up direct debits to make your payments on time and give it a couple of years.

There's your answer. CCJs stay on your file for 6 years, and if you've got ongoing late payments, and an ongoing dispute, none of the mainstream lenders is going to want to lend you money.

You need to work towards getting your credit history clean - always pay everything on time, no exceptions, sort out disputes. When all this is sorted, and you can provide evidence of responsible credit usage, you'll be in a better position.

if your late payments are younger than your CCJ then that's also going against you.

you can get a few sub prime cc's, but limits will most likely be low.

all of my 'issues' are from the same time and I've had no credit for 5 years, not even mobile. switched to sim only. so it was slightly easier to get decent limit CCs.

I would advise against a current account with an OD though, as you don't need it, nor will ANYONE give you one, plus basic accounts do everything these days.
