Would you get married like this ?

Did you watch Emmerdale tonight ?
For those that didn't there's been a wedding. Bernice is probably in her 40s and in the past has been unlucky in love with one relationship after another falling down, and she's beginning to think it's to late for her and she's going to be left on the shelf. The groom is the local millionaire in his late 60s. He can give her everything she could ever want, except a good time in bed. I think he's past it.
The night before the wedding she left the 'hen party' early and ended up sleeping with one of the farmers that she fancies, but he doesn't want her. Laurence her husband found out and instead of telling her to go to hell he's offered to still marry her and when she feels the need for something more intimate he'll turn a blind-eye so long as she comes back to him.
Men & Women would you have got married, and could you live in that sort of relationship ?

  • I'm sure that type of relationship happens, some people get off thinking about their partner having sex with another person, or it may just be loneliness or convenience.
  • How sweet of him, she can sleep around and still be married to a millionaire, what's not to like :D

Do they have these type of story-lines in the soaps to reflect today's society.

It doesn't have to be at the time of the marrisge, the same question could be asked of a couple who'd been married for 30yrs, then for one reason or another didn't want, or couldn't manage the sex side. But they still loved each other. Rather than split up is it better to have a more open relationship.

    Well I wouldnt.(married 30+)
    A [STRIKE]shag[/STRIKE]cormorant is a [STRIKE]shag[/STRIKE]cormorant, vastly over-rated, compared to a marriage.
And to cheat on a partner who couldnt, rather than wouldnt would be even worse.

There was an article in the paper last weekend about can a marriage survive without sex, when you have been married a long time. It seems that it can, its becomes a different type of relationship.

Some will have an open relationship (I think Tom Jones is a good example been married 40 years and always slept around). Others will be content to move into a different type of loving and respectful marriage without sex as they get older.

When i first joined PoF, one of the first women i met had been married for nearly 30yrs, she had 2 daughters in their 20s. She said she could never leave her husband 'cos she still loved him even though he couldn't give her what she wanted. She told me that her husband would never manage on his own and she couldn't do that to him.
But she did want to meet someone, just one or two days a month who would ...... 'make her feel like a woman again'

If all adults involved are consenting, who the hell cares?

He was in the room when we spoke.
He'd be sitting on the couch watching Tv. His wife was the other side of the room on the computer. We were instant messaging and he thought she was speaking to one of the daughters.
    And just to add:
That wasn't what i was looking for.
