If I fail to thank you individually, I am sorry. Your advice was appreciated but may not have been 100% the result I was after.

if you wanna go pro you can do a Windows XP course and be a certified MCP (microsoft certified Professional) for life.0

Nothing of use so far.
Library - can't be bothered.
PC World - don't wanna pay
Google search - done similar
Ain't complaining, just saying here - anybody got that, that was all.
Ain't interested in going pro, yet.

One of the best ways to learn is to use newsgroups if it's technical problems you want to learn how to solve.
24hourhelpdesk, think that's what it's called, would be your best bet. That has people all over the world posting to it all the time, free and people will explain things in the simplest of terms for non techical people to understand.
If you look hard enough with google you will find quite a number of pdf's kicking about, example MCP questions etc. but as was mentioned in other posts if you really want to learn then get a book. Library is free!!
Update: I decided not to be so lazy and I looked up the newsgroup: 24hoursupport.helpdeskThe power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it.0
