Cricut vs Sissix

Hi, Does anyone have either the Cricut explore air or the sissix big shot pro?
What do you think of them?
Just want some opinions please.

No idea on the Cricut, but my mum has a big shot and I have an x-cut.

Mum likes her big shot, but it does seem complicated to me, with the varying combinations of cutting boards, although I think you get used to it.

I went for the x-cut because it does up to A4 dies, so gives more options and allows you to make larger cards. There are only 3 boards with it, thick one always used then a thin plastic one and a metal one, then a dial on the top to adjust the gap. The instructions are very clear, type of die and material being cut equals this boards and dial set to this number, all in a nicely laid out table.

I like my x-cut and would def reccommend

Well I bought a cricut explore air, so now I need cheap supplies of card and hand made paper. Any ideas?

Depends where you are. Have a place called Scrap near us (Leeds) that is great for cheap craft stuff.

Or a number of craft shops offer card and paper by the sheet, or by the box where you can fill a box up for a set amount.

    Hi

I have just started to get into crafting and have been on a few workshops trying out different crafts.

I made a pallet sign and really enjoyed this and thought l would like to have a go at making signs using vinyl letters of different sizes and fonts but am not sure which machine to go for.

I think l would like one that l can use direct from my computer but they all seems very expensive and l am not sure which is best so would be grateful for any advice and which is best and if there are any bargains out there.

    Many thanks

  • The Cricut Explore uses online software. It is very glitchey and is really limited. It will only link to this software, nothing else. It is based on Flash, an outdated, limited platform

It is extremely difficult to find out about the true nature of this machine as things such as Facebook groups are run by people who are affiliated to Cricut. Any criticism of the machines result in a ban from the group. The CEO of the company is not open to question and will ban Cricut owners in a flash.

The machine itself is good and need unchaining from the poor software.

We have a Big Shot and love it!

Kathrynha - not to hijack the thread but what's the scrap store like for card making supplies? I've looked it up online but can't tell if it's worth us going out there to check it out :)

I love my cricut. You can use SVG files and design your own. Its going to be very handy as DD gets married in October.

I can vouch that the Scrapstore in Hull is very good, if that is nearer for you. Plenty of card, different sizes and thicknesses, and colours.
