Which resort in Majorca for family with teens ?

Options
Morning all - Have booked our summer holiday flights into Palma Majorca with the intention of staying in Alcudia.
Our kids are all teens now and I am looking for advice on resort.

From reading a few forums it seems Alcudia is like blackpool abroad and a lot of the families that go there are parents with really young children which we no longer are !!

I am open to suggestions and really anywhere in Majorca if it ticks our boxes!

  • I love Alcudia. I have been there many times in the last twelve years. It depends on what your teenagers want to do.
We rented a villa for a month and my then 17 year old, his friend and my 22 year, his friend had no problem going off on their own and doing things. The buses are easily accessible (albeit busy) and getting to the Old Town and Puerto Pollensa are no problem. The old town is also walkable. There are the usual beachside to do's: Pedalos, windsurfing lessons etc and behind the large Bellvue complex is a go kart track.

We have stayed in Puerto Pollensa twice and loved it- that said our children are younger and I think for teenagers it maybe a bit too quiet. We did go through Alcudia on an excursion and the old town looked lovely but some of the other areas did look a bit like how you described it. There seemed to be some of these huge huge hotel buildings which we thought looked a bit soul less even though they were busy.
  • If the teens want night life then you have got to be looking at the south west of the island where they can easily access Magaluf.

Stay in Palma Nova or Santa Ponsa then you will not be in the thick of it but close by.

I know all the bad publicity Magaluf gets but they could get into just as much trouble in Blackpool etc. so don't write it off.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

Thanks everyone - they are youngish teens and not old enough to be heading clubbing just yet !!
Puerto pollensa looks lovely but I think they need a bit of something going on to keep them amused.
Saying that we could arrive and they maybe wont venture far from pool & wifi !! -

The quality of the wifi will be the biggest factor for them, no really.
Pay particular attention to that when reading reviews.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

seems the hotel we have provisionally booked has decent wifi (payable) at reception - though not great in some of rooms. Am sure there is enough wee places round and about to do them....
