I just have a simple rule: I decide what charities I give to, and when and how much. Not petrol stations, not beggars in the street, not can shakers, not hotels and not people who want 'sponsoring'. They all get short shrift.0 -

If the "miser" remark was aimed at me, then you have no idea about how generous I am to good causes.
The petrol garage is hardly the same as a fast food restaurant so they do not ask would like you a mars with your petrol they are simply putting an offer of a donation on the chip and pin machine, Seriously you need to get a grip you simply key in no if you choose not to want to give it is hardly rocket science after all.
I have no idea what and if you ever give to charity but your comments here make you come across as a miser none the less.0 -
You have absolutely no idea who the misers are and who they aren't.

See above post as it applies to you also.0 -
I've never seen this, but it might become common: http://www.pennies.org.uk/.0

You're missing the point.
It's exactly the same as them adding on a mars bar at the checkout, as they generally sell these as well, why is there a need to add it onto your bill, corporate chuggers, nothing more nothing less.0 -

I very much doubt this when the OP said the choice was listed on the chip and pin machine, Hardly added then in force.
Honestly there is nothing to moan at here but as usual some moan for the sake of moaning and nothing else.0
