Self-employed - is this a problem?

I'd like to apply for a credit card with a better APR, but I'm a bit wary of doing it in case I run into a problem with proving my income.

I'm basically a housewife, but I do some freelance work on a self-employed basis. Since I don't earn much I've always done my own tax returns, so I don't have any paperwork from an accountant to prove my income.

I've got a bank account and credit card which I've had since I was employed (plus a joint account and joint mortgage with my husband). I've always paid bills in time etc, so I shouldn't have any black marks against my name.

But I'm worried because my actual income is a grey area. Is that likely to be an issue if I apply for a new card in my own name?
