Boiler ignition issue after service

Options
I had my Potterton boiler serviced by Baxi last week. It's a conventional boiler, probably 10 years old. As part of the service, the engineer replaced a part - I'm not 100% certain what, as my OH was in & looking after our LO at the time. She says that the engineer said he replaced the old style fibre burner with a ceramic one.

Since then, when the boiler fires up, more often than not it takes 2-4 ignition attempts to stay lit. I've looked in the spy hole and can see a blue flame ignite then go out after a second or so. Then it goes through the ignition cycle again until it remains on. The radiators get warm and the hot water is fine.

So, is this a symptom of something else going wrong (e.g. a temperature or flow sensor?). Or is it just a quirk of the replacement part that I need to get used to? I don't want to phone up and get someone out if it's the latter.

  • Get them back out & no it's not a temp or flow sensor issue
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
