Nectar 'double-up - no stock of game wanted!

I went into my local store on Wednesday and 'doubled-up' £20 worth of points to £40 for the entertainment catagory.
I want to buy my gransdon an xBox One game for Christmas.
However, they have had none in stock since then. I went to customer service who rang two other nearby stores and was told they didn't have that particular game either (number 1 in the xBox charts) and they wouldn't be getting any in until Wednesday.

The voucher runs out tomorrow, and there's nothing else I want from that department.

Sainsbury say they can't put the points back onto the Nectar Card as they are a different company.

Any ideas how I can go about this would be appreciated.

I think I read somewhere that if you buy something with the voucher and then take it back they will refund you in cash.

I've been fuming so much over it, that I hadn't even thought of that:o

I shall pop in tonight and buy something and take it back for a refund tomorrow.

    Thanks

My friends that work for Sainsburys always say to check if the specific item is in stock or look at the range of items (if you are looking for a kettle etc) before you double up.

Are there other Sainsburys in your area?

Just make sure it is something they refund on. I know some stores will not refund on games and dvds etc.

Clothes would be a good one.

You may find that the refund is only for the non-double up voucher value, so be careful.

Until recently, when they discontinued all kitchen trolleys ( own stock), Tesco always ran out at double up time, so I never did buy one.

i never do that double up kind of thing, for this exact reason. it happened to my mum and she just 'had to find something else'.

In Tesco if in store, I collect the item then go to customer service to double up. If the item is from Direct, I ask the Direct counter person to confirm the stock level, before asking them to do the double up.

The mse link states that he refund is for the full value.

But even if was, better to get your original amount back than buy something you do not want.
