It is not a question of my or others being in the wrong or right. Far too simplistic. This was my perception and remains so in this matter. Historically people also change their views and attitudes given their position and relation to the group around them. I will check out a u-tube site for you to view to support my reasoning. Back in a moment.

    I am not Deaston.

Good grief, those 118 landlords are actually discussing a letter they wrote to Shelter complaining that it didn't try and protect them from Osborne in the BTL 'tax grab'.

The lack of self awareness is staggering.

Quite funny. Let's all relax and not get hung up. I would not like to be one of those remaining on the grass though.

    This an informative Forum

I had a quick peek at that site too and its largely pointless. Person after person stamping their feet that their gravy train is ending. Of course they present these concerns as worry for vulnerable tenants rather than their own finances. At no point did I see any poster try to look at the problem from another (non-landlord) angle or proposing a conflicting view. Its a massive echo chamber.

This forum is far from perfect but at least you get people from all walks of life which generally leads to a diverse range of views...

The site is from a landlord for landlords to help them run their tenancies in a fair and responsible manner, so in one regard you are right; it does not act a social services/benefits site, although many landlords on it help those who fall outside the normal renting sector, such as those with convictions.

People from all walks of life use it

They're not doing it from the kindness of their heart, and they're not "helping" anyone. They are running a business and have chosen a niche market. Probably because their property wouldn't rent within the "normal" sector.

So enough of that pious BS please.
