    As above, the main difference is that it's not stored on the magnetic strip, so someone who skims your card won't get the CVV.

    I also put a small sticker over the CVV, this stops someone in a shop from photographing the bottom of your card, which is a trick used more often these days. One that easily peels on and off works great.
