CCTV camaras

I don't know if this the right place to ask this, but after a spat of breakins where I live I decided to buy a CCTV camara and after searching the net and reading a lot about them I looked at one from Maplins, it is a Swan SecuraView N43CU, it has two camaras and a 5.5 inch Monitor, it is a indoor one.
I live in a Bungalow with a 30ft drive and at the bottom of the drive there is a street lamp. I was going to place the camara on the inside of my front-room window, but I have read that the infer-red reflects on the glass and so distorts the picture. Can anyone help me with this or advise what camara would do the job best, this one costs £89.99 and that is a lot to pay if it takes a lousy picture.
Thanking you. Rita.

I can't really answer your question except in general terms. Yes, any camera with its own light source will, if placed behind a window, pick up some of its own light reflected back at it. It won't distort the picture per se (I don't think) but it will reduce the clarity of that picture.
Why are you putting up cameras? Do you want to deter burglars? If so I would look for cameras which are much more visible and can be mounted externally. If you want to record evidence then you'll need a solution which can incorporate a video recorder or similar. If you merely want to keep an eye on areas you cannot easily see from your house then this is probably a good solution.0
