British gas boiler insurance

Just wondering if British gas boiler insurance will cover the cost of new boiler mines just let go and is pouring water out the heat exchanger ive got insurance with them they are due tomorrow but if i need a new boiler will i be covered

I assume you have one of the Homecare contracts? If so, no it won't cover the cost of a new boiler. I have Homeware 300 and my boiler needs replacing, all they would offer is £100 loyalty voucher. Their quote to replace the boiler is £1500 more that local installers too. Guess who is doing mine?

Just checked, they will replace the boiler under the following circumstances:

Replacing your boiler if it is less than 7 years old and cannot be repaired
Replacing your boiler if it is between 7&10 years old and cannot be repaired, as long as it was installed by British Gas and as long as you have had a continuous agreement with us for the life of the boiler

Mine was 27 years old, so no coverage.

The heat exchanger which it appears is leaking it seems is pretty common and costs about £200 plus for the part. The boiler i reckon is 7 years old but not installed by BG but was installed by a company following a insurance claim for storm damage where the chimney imploded and flattened the old back boiler. The company that installed it are local and still trading as i said it seems heat exchangers are quite common issue with these boilers
