pressure washer

I need to buy a pressure washer for my patio. Never had one before, what should I be looking for? And has anyone a recommendation?

Do you need a pressure washer just for a patio?

When I had a patio which used to get a bit of algae, I'd mix up a bucket of water with bleach in it and scrub the thing down with a yard broom dipped in it. After a short while I'd hose it off and maybe repeat on the worst parts.

I never had any problems with the plants growing alongside.

If you use a pressure washer, you might also need a patio cleaning attachment brush, as the standard nozzle might well lift mortar from betwen slabs.

Decent brands for washers are Karcher and Nilfisk, or maybe go cheap and cheerful at Screwfix if it's only for occasional use.

I did wonder whether a yard broom would be adequate. can but try - at least I have one already. The nearest taps to the patio are a good 9 metres away and the hose would probably trail through the flat which leads me to believe I'll need an extension hose, and in my experience hoses lalways leak at the join. Not what I want on my wooden floors.

It will have to be more than 9 metres if I trail the hose out of a window and snake it round the side.

I'll try elbow grease and the broom, but suspect I won't have enough patience to do a good job.

pressure washers also need to be attached to a hose for the water supply, so you would still need to run a hose through the house. Buy a longer hose so there are no joins in it.
