Hi
Please can I have opinions on the best wireless printer to suit us please
We don't use it that often though this might increase. Exit year with sons schooling
So don t want one prone to drying up lol
i would like under £50 and not ridiculous cartridge prices
Any thoughts I'd be really grateful as we havnt had a wireless before
We have all Apple phones and iPads with a Windows laptop
Thankyou

Best option would be a wireless laser jet printer, you'd be hard pushed to get a colour one for £50, more like £100 I'm afraid

There are plenty of wireless inkjets for under £50 and ime inkjets don't dry up these days. Even if they did with three sets of compatible cartridges costing about £5 it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Take a look around your local supermarkets/Argos/etc. and see what is on offer. Check you can get compatible cartridges for it at a reasonable price.

    Example all-in-one from Argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerm/xp-225.htm £39.99

Three sets of ink cartridges for that ~ £5 delivered on eBay.

I have one and it works fine. I have no experience printing from Apple kit though.

Remember that a cheap printer will be sold at a loss with the cost recouped on the carts.

I have had over the years many ink jet printers but bit the bullet and bought a laser jet earlier this year from Amazon and I would never return to ink jet again. Yes it costs more for the toner but IMO price per print far outweighs the cost doing it with ink jet.

It depends how much you print.

£40 for printer leaves an immediate £60 advantage over a £100 printer and with that £60 you can buy 36 sets of compatible cartidges. It's going to take a long long time and a lot of printing before the £100 printer starts to look cheaper. I doubt you'll find a laser + more than demo size toner for any less than £100.

Lasers may well offer advantages especially with high volumes but for low volume printing I really don't thing there is one.

the advantage is no fuss, no stress, no dried up cartridges, no replacing them every other week and gambling on cheap compatibles that aren't, no blank sheets coming out, no cleaning the heads, they just work, first time every time.
Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand

If it is one with a scanner avoid HP their scan to computer software sucks
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

You must have been unlucky. I've never had any of those problems and I've owned several inkjets over the years.
  • We have an older version of that Epson, works fine with iPad and Macbook. Like the separate cartridges for each colour. Have had problems with carts. from IJT but compatible ones from local dealer are fine.
