How do they do THIS?!!?

Every so often, I get an unwanted marketing text or a call on my mobile 'phone.
All are faithfully reported here:
https://www.snapsurveys.com/swh/surveylogin.asp?k=138312369469 *smug smiley*
Most recently from Action Claims Direct on 07005140260. Who are now blocked but not before they woke me up during the day.
I work nights, before you ask.
However, what is irritating me is how the last call got through to voicemail.
There was a brief ring, then it went dead. Then I received a notification about a voicemail.
How do they do that?
i haven't set my phone to go straight to voicemail so how did they get there without me ignoring the 'phone for a few rings at least?
Just when I think I'm getting a little more tech savvy, they do this...:o

Perhaps you mobile phone temporarily lost contact with the network after the first ring or there was a network error.0

Use a number blockig app like Mr Number..........
Stopped all my spam calls.0 -
Voicemail is a computer message.
Is it not the same as a phone call going to an answeirng machine.
You may find your phone is automatically set to divert after one ring . You should be able to change that or switch voicemail off.
We sometimes receive voicemails from couriers advising is about delivery. Have also received one to advise when a click and collect order was available in the shop.0 -
Could it have been ringing longer than you realise before you woke up?0

I hear you, but this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened.
Witheld numbers have done this as well whilst I was awake.
