Dipping toe into broadband market!

With no BT phone line and VM TV + phone the cheapest option should be to take VM broadband however to get a decent deal you'd have to be prepared to argue that you will be going elsewhere and with no BT phone line that would limit your options.
Best bet would be to gen up on cheapest available. SSE used to be good https://www.sse.co.uk/phone-and-broadband#Phone-broadband - I used them for a pricematch comparitor with Plusnet earlier this year. Then when the standard rep says it's £20 say you would like to speak with retentions as at that price it would be much cheaper for you to go with (whoever you found cheap). VM will always deal - it's how their business model is based (pretty much like a car boot stall) - to get the best price you have to argue every year.
One thought though - does the house have a TV aerial. If not then moving on may well be expensive but of course the VM rep won't know that.
