Credit card not showing on credit file

Anyone know why a credit card would not be showing on any credit files?
Active account regularly used, opened circa 1993??
Will lenders (other than the one the account is with of course) "see it" any other way when credit checking?

Prior to circa 1998, only negative account conduct (known as 'black data') was reported to the CRAs. Since then, positive (white) data was also reported. I had a credit card with Yorkshire Bank which wasn't reported for years. Then, a couple of years ago they started reporting it (as was their right under the T&Cs).

Lenders can only see accounts you can see yourself.

So I wonder what would make them all of a sudden just start to report it after all those years? Just random?
Any one else have experience of them appearing recently after many years?
