hi, i have just moved my tv, BB and phone to BT from VM, and am having a problem with connecting the you view box, i have got it working but its only the internet based channels
weve been in the house 5 years and been with VM the whole time,
do i need a proper aerial for the you view box, we did have a new digital aerial installed a few years ago, but it runs to the tv in the bedroom, i didnt even think that i would need it for BT,
im not that impressed with the tv box anyway, the fast forward function isnt like sky or vm you cant see when you need to stop it, it just goes forward in 1 min sections, so you end up rewinding which again only goes back in 10 second intervals,
i only had it installed yesterday so im guessing i have a 30 day period to change my mind with BT, which i might do if i have to pay for someone to come out to fit an aerial.
thanks for reading

Yes you do as without it you won't be utilising the full functionality of the box. An aerial is needed and required for Freeview, certain on demand content and two of the available catch up TV Players, namely ITV and ALL4.
Plus without an aerial one would not be able to utilise the PVR recording facilities or view BBC HD, ITV HD and CH4 HD.
Thats a lot to miss out on, so I would never recommend anyone buys a YouView without a fully working aerial. So I'd get an aerial installer in to look at your current set up and see what he recommends.0 -
I have a Talk Talk, box and a BT box both on Talk Talk YouView, The BT box is far superior and quicker, but you most definitely need a good aerial signal.
I changed from Sky due to ridiculous cost escalation and the fact I didn't watch most of the channels, you soon get used to the new interface.0 -

You have 14 days from the day after you place your order. There is no 30 day cooling off period.0 -
BT are supposed to ask you if you have an aerial, in my mums case they didn't, she had Sky and was going to go with BT Youview, but she couldn't get it to work, it wasn't until I spotted her bill that I asked questions, it turned out that she has been paying for BT Youview Channels for 7 - 8 months, I rang BT and complained, in the end they couldn't find the recording of the phone call so couldn't prove that she'd said she had an aerial so ended up refunding the 7 - 8 months, plus compensation and she got to keep the box, which works for catchup tv.
Mum didn't have an aerial and she knew this, so she was obviously miss-sold, BT did the right thing in her case.0 -
Also, OP, there is no such thing as a digital aerial. This was a term, wrongly used by unscrupulous aerial installers, to convince people that they needed a new aerial, when digital broadcasts began.0
