council tax problem

Hi all, not sure if im in the right section. Sorry if im not.

I was just wondering if anyone can help.

Basically, ive recieved a notice of enforcement letter for the council tax. The thing is, due to myself doing alot of overtime recently I never seen the letter as my house mate only notified me of it this morning as ive been at work. He didnt even text me while i was at work to let me know. Anyway, it said in the letter that an advisor will come to see me, but that was thursday just gone. Now that ive missed them and there not open the weekend, im panacking. Im now aware of what i owe, but i just wanted to know if they will accept a payment plan because of this.

It come to £300 and i can afford to pay it off within 4 monthly payments. I just wanted to know if anyone been through this and how likely it is they will accept this. Im going to see them on my lunch break on monday, but any advice for you guys would be amazing.

Thanks.

Phone the council (possibly Monday if they're not open weekends) and offer them the repayment plan.

It would be unusual for them to refuse a four month plan but you'll have to pay the accrued costs unfortunately.
  • phone the council like suggested, they will usually take offers, but if the debt is with the bailiff now, you should just ignore them until it gets passed back to the council.
