Help regarding insurance problems

hi all,

my car insurance is now due for renewal. initially i got sent a renewal price of £2340 and after calling the insurer managed to reduce the price by £900 which i was over the moon with but with the renewal date now looming i got a letter in the post from them saying that they had cross referenced my details with another previous policy held with them that was my brothers. This threw up a clash in details with regards to a no fault claim that my father had it was down on my policy as happening one year earlier than on my brothers it has since transpired that i had got the date wrong on my policy. what i would like to know is where i stand with regards to paying the extra £500 which is split between last years policy which is now finishing and this years policy which i am yet to take out. i feel it is unfair to be charged an extra £250+ at the end of the insurance period for having my dad down as a named driver for the past year and a slight dependency in details (although admittedly my fault). they have also given me a period of grace which means that i will now be insured without paying for the next couple of weeks. what i would like to know is how liable am i with regards to paying the extra premium on last years insurance now the year has ended (am i better to bite the bullet and pay or are they just exploiting the possibility of more income and wont chase the money if i now cancel the policy) also can i be charged for the grace period if i then decide to cancel the policy? any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. just so you know i am a 20 years old with no claims to my name.

thanks,
james

You gave wrong details so you owe the money unfortunately. Simple as that.
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

Have they supplied you with a cover note for this grace period?

If not don't drive without getting confirmation that you are definitely under cover.

You need to ask your insurer about what you have to pay if you decide not to proceed. But "grace" doesn't usually mean "free".
  • thought that may be the case. i have spent all morning phoning insurance companies and have now managed to find a cheaper price so plan on taking out that policy canceling my renewal and settling the costs thanks for you advice
