Call me Victor Meldrew if you like but I am getting so fed up with buying things not fit for purpose and having to go back and complain. At Curry's yesterday I bought a toaster, not the cheapest but a replacement for one I bought many years ago (not from Curry's) it again was a Russell Hobbs. CAN YOU FIT A SLICE OF BREAD IN IT DON'T BE SILLY it sticks out the top of the toaster by at least one and a half inches. I went into the Curry's site to put in a customer review but there is no way of doing it. The last person to put in a review was someone called Elizabeth who said you can get a large slice of toast in it!!!! Elizabeth must work for Curry's because that statement is not true.

You are in for fun- our Russell Hobbs toaster flings out the toast at speed. Toast can end up about 8 inches away from the toaster and crumbs everywhere.
Toast catching is now a sport in our house.0 -
Also avoid the Breville VTT375.
First one bought 25/9/15 Blew the main fuse so often we stopped putting the clock on the microwave right.
Replaced 15/11/15 now hopefully this one will work properly! Manages to burn toast on mark 2, but doesn't blow the main fuse!
Annoying thing is that the toaster we replaced was no worse that this new one and was at least 10 years old, just didn't match the rest of the appliances. The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0 -
I did once consult Which reports for recommendations on toasters a few years ago. Even they said they are all pretty hopeless.0

Had two toasters this year, a cheapie and a £50 one. Neither accept a slice of bread, just three quarters of it. Now I don't know if it's the bread supplier making bigger slices or the toaster maker making smaller toasters. The solution was dump Warburtons and buy Sainsbury's own which fit nicely but have a consistency like cardboard. I guess it's just one of the p***-takes that suppliers are palming us of with these days. :cool:0

Put the bread in 'landscape' not 'portrait'0

Returned the toaster to Curry's no quibbles or questions it seemed as soon as they saw the box they were already generating a refund. I then went to Argos and bought a Russell Hobbs toaster this time model no 20720. What a sigh of relief on inserting the bread it completely disappeared in the slot and what a smile when it came out evenly brown all over.
Thank you everyone for looking and replying.0
