Gas and Electricity in a Student House

Hey,
Bit of a weird question but I'm hoping someone can help me out anyway.
I was just wondering what sort of bill amounts to expect to pay for my student house that I move in to next month. Our water is included so it's just gas and electricity that im interested in - there's 6 of us there (in 6 bedrooms), one communal area openly attached to the kitchen. 1 washing machine, no dishwasher and 2 fridge freezers. That's about all. Don't know how much difference any of that makes but I decided it couldn’t hurt to include it.

Thanks in advance

George

  • Well we have just about finished a year in a 5 bedroomed house with Gas CH, 1 Fridge, 1 Fridge Freezer, Washing Machine and Dishwasher. We lived comfortably and the other housemates liked having the heating on stupidly long :s

For the year the Gas/Leccy came to about £1100 for the year (with ebico).
Line rental with BT 10.49 - paperless
Phone calls through primus (free evening and weekend calls) - no charge
    Internet £25 pm

It was quite easy once it got going - we created a house account and made everyone pay into it (fixed amount each week).

I would guess Gas and Leccy wise yours should be around the same as ours if not a tad more, however it depends on the individuals usage and the type of house.

This year we are going with scottish power as they give back £55 quidco which is nice, plus they seem fairly competitive (online tarif)
