"daytime tuition for me with looked after kids paying around £20 per . hour". This is what I do in my lunch hour, paid directly from the local authority. It is good regular money and I get paid even if they cancel - which they do quite a lot - hectic caotic lives. Behaviour and/engagement can be an issue - if I have any problems I just leave.

Don't be so hard on yourself!! You are doing your best, you may be ill and probably have so much on your mind even if you are not ill...your students are lucky to have such a dedicated teacher. Be kind to yourself.

    Thinking of you xx

Well apparently the problem's at your end, flooding in Spain or something? Are you saying they're lying to us? Yay for local, seasonal veg!

In very exciting eBay news, last night we came within £13 of a £9k 60 day turnover which equates to about £1500 pm profit - half way towards my goal of £3k pm profit :T:T:T

Today we're gonna go for a walk in the woods then have colcannon with leftover cabbage for tea. I've also got 1/4 leftover pumpkin out of the freezer which I'll roast and make into a soup for tomorrow. I've also got a tuition booked in but just one and it won't impact on family time.

    Feeling much more positive!

Fantastic eBay profits!!! enjoy your walk, it's persisting it down here so I've taken my energy out on housework.

Galley - send a few courgettes over and some lettuce, I refused to pay £1.29 for a tiny iceberg yesterday in Aldi. Daft prices.

Loads of lettuce in the fields near us, how many do you want (I think they've actually gone over, look like they're bolting so will probably get abandoned ). No courgettes growing near me that I've seen - they'll be in the greenhouses and I don't go past any. I bought some reasonably priced ones from a sort of wholesaler yesterday but today in Lidl's they were around €3.50 a kilo - twice the price of the UK but grown up the road - explain that if you can :rotfl:.

Lots of cabbages and caulis - was out with Mr GG today in the car, windows wide open as it was so hot (:D) and the air stunk of brassicas (no, it wasn't Mr GG :rotfl:). Also lots of broad bean plants (they grow a variety that only gets to around 1m tall so no staking) but I haven't seen any of those for sale, or in bars (some rural places bung a handful in the pod on the bar instead of tapas, bloody lovely they are too :T). Something planted in a lot of fields under plastic in the last week or two - might be melons though think it's a bit early.

Lastly on the food !!!!!! - strawberries are around €4 a kilo, large and gorgeous :D. And on offer in Lidl next week for €2.58 a kilo :T.

BTW Courgette, well done on the ebay income :T:T:T, that is the type of thing this thread is supposed to be about really :rotfl:.

    Great weekend!
    • Went to the park with DH and little boys on Saturday in lovely bright sunshine. Climbed trees, played pooh sticks, rolled around in mud and had a very cold picnic in the park.
    • Also hung the first load of washing on the line and it very nearly dried :money:
    • One hour's tuition and had the great news that my student's daughter, who was also my student, has passed her yr7 entry entrance exam. Absolutely delighted as I honestly didn't know how that was gonna go
    • Spent £2 on ice-creams for the boys because they have a vital part of their brain missing and thought it was ice-cream weather yesterday :rotfl:
    • Today we went to a free museum via a free boat trip. Took a picnic again so all the day cost was a fiver for the busfare. Although I've been to this particular museum a few times I found a play area I didn't know was there which will be great for rainy days
I just love weekends like this one - completely family focussed and spending only minimal money.

I'm gonna do some research and make a list of all the free things there are to do in this city as there may well be stuff I don't know about. I'm also considering spending £35 on an annual museum pass for all of us which will cover all the museums in the area that charge an entry fee. Will do some research on how many visits I need to do to make this pay for itself and decide from there

    Have a good week!

    Oooh, sounds lovely :)

I have a map of my area and also onrs for the cities I have relatives in. On it I mark all the activities with different codes (rainy day activity, prices etc) I go to ones with the 'free' codes all the time :). Works for me!

  • Good idea Courgette. It is easy to forget about good places that are recommended to you if you don't write them down. Have fun!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
