For some reason today I have started to get lots of spam emails on my talk talk. Net account
Apparently there is a lot of tt customers being hit with this problem
What can I do
Would using the Unsubscribe option work or is it a case of putting up with is the till someone gets bored
Thanks

  • From whom ?
What do you use as an email client a browser(webmail) or Windows mail.Thunderbird etc? Or are you using iThing/AnneDroid ?
Your email address may have been harvested from someone else's address book, or somewhere you may have signed up to. If the address in the email is xxxx"@"topica.com you will be pee-ing the wind, I have not yet found how they got my address, but I have a few ideas:eek:
As an aside I don't get spam on my TalkTalk address but then again I don't get emails about my account with TT until it is too late to claim the early payment discount :mad:

If somebody comes up with a working solution I predict they'll be a billionaire this time next year.

The "unsubscribe" option may confirm to the spammer that your email exists. If so, he'll be able to sell your email address to more spammers for a higher price. So probably best not to click on it!

There's not much you can do except flag it as spam (if your email client has that feature) and hope it learns to recognise future spam more accurately, so it can dump it in the spam folder instead of your inbox.

I posted a Q? on the URL links in a friends spam emails. using Hex to hide the address.

I just popped in to update that post and spotted this one, they are on AOL which is owned by TT. But i think AOL themselves had a breach some time back.

If they have links do not click them do not unsubscribe, set your spam controls to block them.

Mate received 60 yesterday, and all the ones with URL's in them all seem to be registered in PANAMA.. The SPAM capital?

Yep all mine are strange Url's luckily they all went to my spam box
This has just started yesterday afternoon along with most of TT customers judging from the TT forum
I wont click unsubscribe thanks for the warning
I only have a talktalk.net account and it is mostly used on my desktop

    Haha still saying this today?
re early payment phone them and tell them the early payment option on the site isn't working for you and they will give you the discount on your next bill ;)
    Thanks everyone

update someone on the forum for TT has 9367 spam in One day so I am very lucky

    Suggestion.
    1. create a gmail email address (I have found that gmail's spam filter is excellent)
    2. goto talk-talk email settings and auto-forward ALL email to the gmail account
Gmail will spot all the spam...
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.
