Can we move into deceased in-laws home?

  • What did the will say?

I just thought that if your OH is the sole beneficiary didn't he just inherit the house but have to find the charge to pay out from the deceased estate.

I could be really, really, really wrong, but is it worth investing in some time with a solicitor?
  • The will says that OH is sole beneficiary. Not sure what you mean when you say "find the charge to pay out from the deceased's estate"?

If there was money as well as the house left to your OH, he could have paid off the mortgage with the cash but I assume, from what you've said, that there was very little apart from the house.
  • There is some small savings, not much, not enough to cover rest of mortgage

    Have I missed something?

You've owned this house for some time, it's been sitting empty during that time and you've been paying £600 rent for somewhere else.

    What have I missed?
