Cancelling trip to Paris

I have booked a trip to Paris via Eurostar for my wife's birthday on December 15. Strangely enough, she doesn't want to go because she thinks she might be murdered. Thomsons are saying we can't have a refund, whilst at the same time refusing to book any further trips to Paris because of the terrorism. They want to have their cake and eat it. Can anyone advise what we are supposed to do?

As far as travel insurance goes, unless the foreign office advises against it (which they're not at the moment) you're unlikely to be able to cancel on the insurance.
Will Thomas allow you to move the dates at all as a goodwill gesture?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

This is probably not the kind of advice you were looking for, I hope you will excuse me.

Terrorism is psychological warfare, and your wife is already a victim. The people who succumb to irrational fear in this way are not actually preserving their own safety in the long term, but allowing the terrorists success in advancing towards their ultimate aims.

Consideration of this, and whether it would not be better to go ahead and enjoy the birthday trip as planned, is much more important than worrying about how to get some kind of refund.
