If you do not trust 'the cloud' then DriveImage XML is free for home use, and is very good.
I've moved all salvaged documents somewhere safe. Thank god there was a workaround for directory documents. Because I've been reading everything I could find these last few days, I'm sure I read somewhere cloud storage is corrupted as well, which surprised me.0 -
yeh, I'm not a cloud fan - although in the corporate world it does pay about £180+k a year.
On the cloud, you never really know whom else is accessing your data. Often faceless and locationless - 'transparent', if the Company become bankrupt or suddenly cease trading etc. (remember MegaUploads whos computers are still seized by the FBI many years later). Also one company may have storage relationship with another 'Affiliate', and it becomes the weakest link senario.
Read the best practice is to have multiple providers in different time zones which also multiplies the cost. Yes there is less admin, and can provide quick roll out, unlimited expansion, and can be cost effective too, depending on the boxes you tick.0 -
Unless its 3.0 or above then all the keys have been released by kespersky ( I think) recently.
Also, you say you cant get previous versions of files not in folders ..
You do know you can right click on the c drive its self and choose previous versions right ?
The files don't have to be in folders.
Good luck0 -

Absolute tosh - reported as spam0 -
It's entirely possible actually. The real ransomware has been so successful that there are fake ransomware viruses going around that claim to have encrypted your files and demand money but in fact they haven't, they are just showing a nag screen.Absolute tosh - reported as spamChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
agreed, there are fake versions out there.
All the fake versions iv seen still delete the vss though and simply rename files instead of encrypting them.
This poster is a spammer id bet my bottom dollar, A comment as broad and badly written as that, containing empty information vaguely connected to the title of the thread, obviously hasnt read the thread.
Time will tell when he gets to 10 posts i guess0 -
