Obviously, giving up the habit hasn't made you any less nervous.

Baggage lost/delayed on a Ryanair flight from France? You're stretching it a bit there.
Ryanair Airline delay? It's possible. Likely? Hmmmm....
As to the transport options...if the M25 is blocked, one can take an alternative form of transport and still get there on time.
30k miles? I've travelled nearly double that on leisure alone this year and have five more trips booked for when I'm back from the trip that I'm on now.
So, I know, as least a little, about travelling to airports.
I would probably choose the bus for ease of carriage, but have a timetable of all of the options, just in case there is a problem with any one of them.
Since the flight is probably not leaving until at least 1930 hrs or possibly 2030 hrs, I wouldn't lose any sleep about catching the flight.
In reality, you would be on your chosen form of transport by around 1530 hrs. Taking the Stansted Express(in case of motorway problems), some 50 mins later you would be heading Paddington bound on the Tube. Add on lynzpower's 40 min Tube journey to Paddington and another 30 mins for the Heathrow Express and delays in catching trains. That's 2 hours to get to Heathrow.
Remember, she wrote that she needs to check in at 1730 hrs, so there is still 2 to 3 hours after 1730 hrs with which to play.
I wouldn't even think that it were not possible to make that flight.0 -
I didnt realise that the check in was at 17.30, thought it was flight departure- sorry

Its certainly taken me an hour from touchdown to getting off the plane, picking up my bags and getting out of stansted the 2 times Ive flown ryanair into stansted. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I still fail to see the obsession with using Ryanair between Paris and London. I mean, Ryanair fly out of Beauvais, which is a very long way from Paris. And the journey from Stansted to Heathrow is long, may be stressful, and is not exactly free. In this situation Eurostar offers the ideal solution. Or you could splurge on a flight into Heathrow. In any event, the additional costs are going to be less than those involved in an extra night in London. And flying to Stansted and going directly to Heathrow would mean that an entire day of your holiday gets wasted on airport transfers -- madness!0

go for it if flight leaves 8:30 ish- if you were only planning to be at airport 2 hrs before thailand flight it may be a bit tight. definatlry consider other tranport options if youu do decide to change. for the uk have alook at www.transportdirect.co.uk0

If you cannot get a £39 single from Eurostar,Paris (allow two hours on the underground to Heathrow)then by far the easiest and less stressful would be to either fly Paris to Heathrow early a.m or fly the evening before and get a cheapy at the Heathrow Travellodge or camp out at the airport. I had a very tight time frame flying into and out off Bombay a few years back with just a few bob in my pocket, enough to cover taxes not enough to pay for a flight, well as you can imagine we missed the flight by about 20 minutes - but thats another story.............................pay the extra !!!!!!!!SallyD0

Don't disagree with an hour from touchdown. It's just that you added 20 minutes to the time of touchdown from the beginning.
Anyway, it's altogether possible.
All that's left, is to decide if they need to change their form of transport from France.0 -
WOW, thank you all for your further suggestions, if I was travelling alone I would have certainly considered some of those options but, I have taken the save option
My biggest worry would have been if Ryanair just cancelled the flight, I have read the horror stories!
Donnie and deva, thank you for the transfer links.
Donnie if you are in Phuket after the October 4th I will certainly buy you a drink

OMG, national express seems rather expensive, usually pay £1 (funfare) to get to London!0

Wimp

I can't believe that you let them scare you. They would be unlikely to cancel the flight on the day.
Don't want to meet you now.
Only joking. I'm thinking about going to South America at that time. Have to look at the weather charts.0
