PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

IncorrectAn unadopted road is one that doesn't belong to anyone. Install a locked gate at the end of your unadopted road and, if after several years you can prove you've had sole control and use of the road without contest, you can put in a possession order and take ownership of the road.
An unadopted road is one where the local council have not adopted it and taken responsibility for its upkeep. It probably will be a private road and it's upkeep is in the hands of the owner(s) (if they so wish) and those land occupiers who have a right of way across it.
Note that the owner(s) of a right of way have no requirement to keep it to a certain standard. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
