pool water green???

Options
I purchased an "Easy Set" pool 2 weeks ago. It came with filter & heater. It was used for a few days and then has been left for about 1 week with the cover on, but filter off. I have just looked at it today and the water has algae in it. I know I needed to have used some chemicals to have avoided this. But is it too late now to use chemicals or will I have to empty it and then refill? If it's not too late to add chemicals does anyone know if DIY/garden centres stock these, I know they are available online, but ideally would like buy today and use today.

you will need to shock your pool, if you do a search on the internet it will explain what to do - also the instructions will be on the side of the packs of chemicals. i buy my chemicals online. you should ideally check your pool every day. b and q sell chemicals but i found their system to be expensive. you will also need a net to skim. hope this helps

Once you have got the pool clear again and the chlorine and Ph levels correct You must get into the habit of running the pump for a minimum of 4 hours a day.

Also you have to remember that heat, sunlight and high pool use breaks down chlorine quicker, this is why it must be tested daily and adjusted with the correct quantity of chemical.

Heavy rainfall can effect the Ph balance.

When I first set my pool up 5 years ago I was worried about getting the balance right but you soon start to understand your pool and what conditions will effect the water balance.

Just need a bit more sun this year haha.

I used to have a similar problem, this year I invested in a metal frame pool, a wonderful girl in a spa place near me recommended stuff called spachlor £14.99 a pack, when u fill the pool you put in 5 caps, then 2 caps a week there after fingers crossed no probs this year.

To get rid of the green you need acid not chlorine, the other option is empty it refill and keep the ph levels correct.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.
