What is the average that this should cost a month?
I have a 3bed terraced house and pay £108 a month for the two.
I gave control of this bill to my brother and I have no idea what the tariffs are, but just wondered when he moves out, is this a reasonable amount for a single woman with two children to be spending?
I am quite tight with the heating, but my mother turns it up when she is minding my children.
My brother has mentioned that we are in "credit," so I'm guessing at some stage, we will get this back, i.e. maybe if I change supplier when my brother moves out?

I live in a 3 bed detached in N Scotland and pay £81 pm so your bill is quite high but without knowing your tariff, unit / sc prices and annual kWh use it is impossible to really comment. The "average" cost is lower than I pay.0

Its energy used rather than a woman and two children .
What is typical use .0 -
Sounds about right if there is someone in all day.
However, you may want to check what tariff you are on to see if there is better deal.0 -
"on credit " may mean you are in credit, or its a credit meter.Just make sure you are not on the suppliers standard/variable tariff as that can be beaten by at least 25%. You dont really have to switch supplier neither, just get on the best tariff for you.I keep going on about the MSE BG 2016 collective which is a very good tariff, and still available till late December plus £30 cashback0

I wouldn't think so as I live in a 3 bed semi in central Scotland and I pay £100 a month which is actually meaningless because my consumption is less than that.
The only way to accurately compare consumption is to use kWhs not £s.over 73 but not over the hill.0 -
So because I am taking on the house by myself, should I just get my brother to add my name to whatever documents he has, so that I can talk to the energy company and make my decision as to whether to stay, switch tariff or switch supplier?
He has said something about our contract being up soon and I don't want him signing another as he will be moving out sometime next year.
Or can I just start up a new contract by myself? I'm guessing not as I have lived at the property the whole time and the money has been coming out of a joint account in both our names, but the account is just in his name and letters and e-mails go to him.
And re the "in credit" bit. He has mentioned an amount of £300 being owed to us. Hoping he's got that right and it's not the other way around!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
