Decorating bedrooms - quote

I have just had a quote to decorate 2 double bedrooms:

• remove wallpaper
• make good as necessary (there are a few shallow holes where built-in wardrobes were removed, nothing much)
• gas-safe engineer to remove then re-fit radiators
• fix lining paper then paint
• attach wallpaper on top to one feature wall in each room (I will supply this, but decorator will supply everything else)
  undercoat and gloss to doors and skirtings.

£850 for each room.

This seems very high to me. I am in the process of arranging further quotes to get comparisons. Any comments on this quote? I'm in St Albans which does tend to be one of the expensive areas.

not sure why you need a gas-safe engineer to remove then re-fit radiators??

Turn them off at the valve and take them off...(drain into a bucket) very easy to do and nothing to do with gas..

Does sound high, and as above-you don't need someone gas safe to remove rads.

Very high - I'd expect £400-600 per room.

Thanks everyone for comments. I have had a second quote, and it's virtually identical.

I am fully aware a GasSafe engineer is not required to remove the rads, but they are rather old and I know the pipes can break etc, so it's as well to have someone who knows what to do in a worst-case scenario. I also want to get thermostatic valves fitted (as the current valves are completely stuck!), so in this case I think it would be appropriate.
